Blackberri

Blackberri is an American drag performer born in Houston, Texas and raised in Lake Charles, Louisiana. She attended theatre school in Louisiana before moving back to Houston in 2010 to study fashion design at the Art Institute of Houston, where she first entered the local drag world by designing garments for another queen. She began performing as Blackberri on August 31, 2016, taking a stage name that layers her Black identity, the LGBTQ+ 'bear' aesthetic, the blackberry fruit, and gay slang — a play on the saying 'the blacker the berry, the sweeter the juice.' Widely nicknamed 'The Bearded Beauty of Texas,' she rose to national visibility as a runner-up on The Boulet Brothers' Dragula Season 5 and then returned to compete on Dragula: Titans Season 2, placing seventh. Beyond television, Blackberri has appeared in a Facebook Super Bowl commercial (2021) and hosts drag queen story hours at the Houston Public Library.
