Cara Melle

Atlanta-born, London-based live singer — the first Black trans queen and the first American-born queen on Drag Race UK.

Cara Melle is an American drag performer, out of drag Cara Melle, born in Atlanta, Georgia and now based in London, where she moved after university to pursue her drag career. She competed on Series 5 of RuPaul's Drag Race UK, placing 6th, and holds two firsts on the UK franchise: the first Black trans contestant and the first queen originally from the United States. Her drag name is a knowing pun on caramel. Musically inclined, she integrates original, soul-inflected songs into her drag sets and prefers live singing to lip syncing — a rarity on the UK format.
