Devo Monique is a Brooklyn-based drag artist who moved to New York City from Richmond, Virginia in 2017 and has since become a fixture of the borough's drag scene. Born in 2015 as a drag identity, the name is a portmanteau — 'Devo' from 'DEranged + VOgue' (nodding to a mash of bizarre humour and high-fashion influence), and 'Monique' inherited from her drag mother. Trained as a dancer, she brings a technically sharp, body-forward physicality to her performances.
