Frida Cox

Frida Cox is a New York-based bearded drag queen who has built a career by refusing to shrink her drag to fit a room. She works across two polar-opposite scenes — the queer Brooklyn circuit and the very different Long Island nightlife world — and brings the same full-throated performer to both. Her sets swing wide by design: she's just as ready to lip-sync a comedy number as she is to deliver a devastating political piece, including a performance about lynchings and the killing of Black Americans that layered Jade Novah's cover of 'Strange Fruit' with Sonya Renee Taylor's spoken word 'When The Shotgun Questions the Black Boy' over projections of the murdered. She has stated plainly that she does not believe in changing herself for a venue or a crowd.
