Matraka

Matraka is the stage persona of Matraka, a Mexican drag queen, visual artist, dancer and actor from Purísima del Rincón, Guanajuato. Her name comes from the matraca, a wooden Mexican folk noisemaker — a fitting emblem for a drag artist whose whole vocabulary is about being loud, celebratory, and unmistakably Mexican. Matraka identifies as Indigenous Mexican and builds looks around sarapes, ruffled skirts, and other traditional textile references, turning the runway into a stage for social commentary alongside beauty. She competed on the first season of Drag Race México in 2023, placing as a runner-up and winning the Fan Favorite title from viewers, and returned to compete on Drag Race México: Latina Royale. She has an active following on Instagram and TikTok under @matraka_traka, where she documents runway builds, folkloric drag references, and life on the Mexican drag circuit.
